Sitting at the foot of Snowdon, Wales's highest mountain, the Royal Victoria Hotel has been welcoming guests to the idyllic lakeside village of Llanberris for over one hundred years.

 

Cradled at the foot of the Snowdon mountain range and adjacent to the twin lakes of Padarn and Peris, the Royal Victoria sits within 30 acres of ground.

The grounds comprise of well-tended formal gardens, ancient woodland and the magnificent ruins of the 12th century Welsh Castle, Dolbadarn.

 

All bedrooms are en-suite with modern decor.

 

They have direct dial telephone, flat screen television with freeview channels, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board , and hairdryer.

Welsh Highland Railway

 

Step back in time and embark on our journey from Caernarfon aboard the Welsh Highland Railway passing through spectacular scenery besides a 13th century castle into the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.  This 90 minute journey snakes around seemingly impossible bends around the foot hills of Snowdon before arriving in Beddgelert.

There will be time at leisure in Criccieth where Victorian charm comes to the seaside and a medival castle overlooking its two beaches.

 

The Ffestiniog Railway

 

In Porthmadog relax and enjoy a journey on the Ffestiniog Railway, the oldest independent railway company in the world established in 1832.  We'll travel 13.5 miles on a 70 minute journery,  as we climb 700 feet through tranquil pastures and magnificent forests,  past lakes and waterfalls, through tunnels and around mountains.

In the afternoon we visit Portmeirion which was created by Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1976 to show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it.

Portmeirion village and gardens is one of Wales's premier visitor attractions, welcoming over 200,000 visitors every year.

Our visit includes alight lunch and a 45 minute guided tour of the Village and its extensive gardens.

 

Llanberis Lake Railway

 

We make a short visit to the Isle of Anglessey with a stop in Beaumaris, a beautifully positioned resort of Victorian character.

Later we experience the timeless appeal of the narrow-gauge Llanberis Lake Railway , a relaxing way to travel and the ideal opportunity to take in the sights of Snowdonia.

The sturdy engines take us on a five-mile return journey alongside Lake Padarn.

The jouney takes 60 minutes and passes Dolbadarn Castle, crossing Britain's shortest river and past LLanberis' twin lakes.
